OPERATION - HAPPY CHILDHOOD - A report from our field worker - We re-launched this project as we have been finding so many children in need of help. Widows with children are trying desperately to scrape together enough food to feed them. Some widows even cannot have a ll their children living with them as they cannot afford to feed them. A family where the father has deserted them, for various reasons, is unable to cope. We have been able to buy some goats for a family and now they (the goats) have babies. We need sponsors; we have at least 20-30 single parents with children on our list waiting for sponsors.

ISRAEL - HELPING HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS

image005.jpg A new work started in Israel at Pesach by the giving of food parcels to needy Holocaust survivors; there are 260,000 and about 80,000 live in poverty. We have a unique opportunity to make a difference in their lives, but we need to move fast to accomplish this task together. This new project is with full Israeli backing allowing us free access in helping all groups in Israel in need. Those from the FSU tend to be considerably poorer partly because they basically began their new lives in Israel from nothing. At this date, we are feeding over 3000 holocaust survivors each month, and the work is growing.

Through your sponsorship, elderly Holocaust Survivors are receiving help in their last days.
Thanks to our Sponsors!

Through your sponsorship, children receive better food and help with medical care, and the knowledge that someone cares for them.

UKRAINE Our workers continue to travel to the East into the farthest parts. Every time they go, they are finding more and poorer Jewish communities, desperately trying to survive. Recently a family on the edge of starvation was reached and helped. It is a wonder how can this be in these times, but it is only too common. We have been able to send money for the needs of children and their parents. Thank you to those who sponsored this.

SUMMER CAMP 2007 Providing summer camp is a way to bring children in horrible circumstances to a place where they can get good food, and build their health. This past summer, we sponsored children's camps in Poland for the children of Ukraine and in the mountains of Poland in Pulavy (in the winter a great ski resort). Some of the bicycles that we have been given have been sent there and it will be wonderful for the children to have use of them. We were pleased that the health of many of the children improved being in a healthier, unpolluted environment.

BELARUS & MOLDOVA Two of the poorest countries of the FSU. They are the most difficult to run soup kitchens and to get aid into; one of the soup kitchens has been restarted. Please remember Anna and Viola. Moldova, another difficult country to work in but there are Jewish communities in Kishenev and Teraspol that we send support to and keep in touch with.

RUSSIA - Lonia and Olga continue to co-ordinate the work in Moscow under extreme difficulties but with the favor of God for supplies from the local Auchan supermarket. It is impossible to send aid through the borders; it is just not accepted so the work is continued from within through financial aid sent. Lonia and Olga are immigrating to Israel to oversee our distribution to Holocaust Survivors, so the work in Moscow will have some transitions.

ALIYAH - Slowing down at present but there are some from Ukraine who want to make Aliyah some from Georgia. Here again it is a question of finance & transport but we are able to make arrangements for those desiring to make this journey through support received.

On a personal note: please forgive the long time since our last newsletter. I recently got married, and between the preparations and plans.... I hope you understand. In any event, our work goes on, and we ARE MOST GRATEFUL FOR YOUR CONTINUED ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT FOR US.

As we move into the Fall season, we begin preparing for winter. We are distributing warm coats, and making preparations for food distribution. Your help is most important to our people. Would you consider making a generous donation at this time?

Thank you,
